Welcome, and a note about categories

Hello, Alpineopossum, and welcome to Simple English Wikipedia. Thank you for your work here. I noticed that you created a category called "Cuban Americans". You probably didn't know, but earlier this year we decided not to have categories like this that indicate ancestry. A lot of categories were deleted at that time. You can read the deletion discussion here. There was more discussion of it here. The decision was made partly in line with our practice of keeping our category structure simple.

Because of that, I have deleted your new category and removed it from the two articles that used it. Don't feel bad, though. Categories are one of the things that we handle quite differently than other Wikipedias, and it often takes new editors here a while to learn about that. Another way we manage the categories differently is that we want at least three entries in each new category. You can read about that at Wikipedia:Categories#Is there a need for the new category?.
