Discussion[change source]

Welcome[change source]

Hello! I noticed that you may have come here from another Wikipedia, so you know a little about how things work here. I hope you like it here and decide to stay! Here are some links to help you adjust:

There's a lot to do here. Most of it is writing articles that do not exist yet, which you can do by translating from other Wikipedias, but have a look around and see what you want to do. Thanks for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need any help. Etamni | ✉   12:34, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Declaring vested interest[change source]

If you have a connection with Aphelion (software) and do not tell us about it, you may be blocked from editing this wiki. Macdonald-ross (talk) 12:54, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I just added a paid contribution from my user page in this discussion page. --Damien ELIE (talk) 13:00, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you; that's good. Now, do you have independent evidence that the software is notable? We have guidance on WP:Notability. Macdonald-ross (talk) 13:19, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The software was used as commercial software for image analysis example in the english imagej article. Otherwise they are several international publications using this software in the english references of the page. I let you judge about this. Please revert to version 5350972 which is easier to understand, waiting to know if this page has to be detailed or removed. --Damien ELIE (talk) 13:26, 14 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Stub sufficient[change source]

@Etamni: The current version is probably sufficient for simple english version of wikipedia. Some softwares as gimp have smaller version too in the simple english version of wikipedia. --Damien ELIE (talk) 12:29, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As noted below, the issue is with the lack of sources showing notability. It is not a problem to have a simpler version of the article. Etamni | ✉   12:32, 16 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of article[change source]

On the Administrator's noticeboard, I said: I would ask that Damien ELIE provide (below) a few links to sources that would show or tend to show notability. Industry awards, reviews, and other significant discussions (more than a brief mention), which are independent of the company, would be helpful. You replied with: Please refer to the references present in the english article :en:Aphelion (software). Some of them are from relevant publication sites or magazines and cite the usage of the software. (Links removed for clarity)

Continuing from there, please be aware that it is the obligation of the person creating an article to show, in that article, why the subject of the article is notable. This means providing links to valid secondary sources that show or tend to show the notability of the subject. Because of the conflict of interest in working with this article, it would be appropriate to provide those links below, but after briefly scanning the EnWiki version of the article, I'm not going to wade through all of those links, most of which refer back to the company's own website, in order to figure out if any of them show notability. Also, please understand that I am not disputing that the product is notable, I am saying that it is up to you to prove the notability, not up to random volunteers to find that information for you.
