Welcome[change source]
Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:
- An English Wikipedian's guide
- Writing in Simple English
- Simple talk: our help desk, reference desk and village pump- in one page
- How to copy from English Wikipedia
There is much to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that do not exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need help. --Ferien (talk) 12:59, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Ferien and thanks for the kind message. Is my first article here Need to Know good? Thank you in advance. VersaceSpace (talk) 13:02, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Could do with some categories and linking to Wikidata but other than that, it's great. Thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 13:04, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- @Ferien: okay! Question: is there a draftspace? VersaceSpace (talk) 13:18, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Unfortunately not. However, you can use a user subpage as a sandbox. --Ferien (talk) 13:19, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ferien ok! I'll use that then. Is there anything else I should know that differs from the English Wikipedia? VersaceSpace (talk) 13:23, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- See User:Auntof6/simplediffs for some of the main differences between the Simple English and English Wikipedia.
- Also
- We don't have short descriptions
- Unlike the English Wikipedia where there are multiple "Pages for deletion" processes + speedy deletion, we only have Requests for deletion and quick deletion
- If you're copying from the English Wikipedia, you can use the {{translated page}} template on the talk page (although simply saying "create from enwiki" in the edit summary is enough)
- Hope that helps! :) --Ferien (talk) 13:27, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ferien Thanks! Lastly, I tried to make a change deemed "too large". What do I do in this case? Does it apply to all editors or is there a non-autoconfirmed system? VersaceSpace (talk) 13:44, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- It seems to be an abuse filter "New user creating large new article". You should be able to make the change without any issues after two more edits. --Ferien (talk) 13:46, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ferien okay. That confuses me because I was adding tables to an article and not actually making an article but it's fine. I'll just make smaller changes. VersaceSpace (talk) 13:49, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- If you want I can make the change for you. Although... if you respond to this saying yes then you'll be on 10 edits anyway... --Ferien (talk) 13:50, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Ferien I've just done it myself. The discography of Cardi B was set back by at least a few years so I brought some content over from the English Wikipedia. You can see the edit here: (diff) VersaceSpace (talk) 14:01, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
- Great, thanks :) --Ferien (talk) 14:06, 12 June 2021 (UTC)
