Vijay Rupani (2 August 1956 – 12 June 2025) was an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 7 August 2016 to 11 September 2021. Rupani succeeded Anandiben Patel and was later succeeded by Bhupendra Patel.
Death
[change | change source]Rupani was one of the passengers of Air India Flight 171 that crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad Airport on its way to London Gatwick Airport,[3] on June 12, 2025. He and 240 others on board were killed plus 38 people on the ground on the impact. [4]
