Remove class banner?[change source]

Yes, that would help. The students in most cases have done an excellent job. I am reviewing the edits at the moment. Common problems[change source]

This was a great project, but it did bring up some issues. Solving these would benefit any future program.

One problem with the students edits was the removal of wiki markup. The students did not seem to realize that there is code for things like links and adding bold. Several students went to great lengths to remove them. In future it would be worth making sure that these elements are understood.

Another problem is quite few students added their information without reading what was already included. This caused doubling up, or in some cases removal of existing referenced text with poorer quality input. In one case here the student simply added his contribution at the top of the existing article.

Referencing would be better if a referencing template was used. Students were using basic reference information, which is quite OK, but not the way references are added currently. There is a cite template built into the edit bar.

It is also preferable to use publicly available references. Many of the students were using the World Book which is only available by subscription.

However, the contribution of the students was appreciated, and I would warmly welcome any of them to continue to edit here. This will improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills in a collaborative process.
