"Wishin' and Hopin'" is a 1963 song written by Hal David and Burt Bacharach. It was first recorded by Dionne Warwick for her debut studio album Presenting Dionne Warwick. It went to number 79 in France. The better known version is by Dusty Springfield and is the fourth single from her debut studio album A Girl Called Dusty and Stay Awhile/I Only Want to Be with You. It went to number 2 in Australia and Canada, number 3 in New Zealand, number 6 in the United Kingdom and number 8 in South Africa. It was not released as a single in the United Kingdom.
