Art is something that is made to please or excite the senses, particularly sight, hearing and imagination. The word "art" is most often used for "visual arts", the ones that can be seen. They are painting, drawing and sculpture. These arts can be used to represent people, things, places and ideas.

The word "arts" is also often used. The means not just painting drawing and sculpture, but also literature (writing), music, theatre (or theater) and film
