Leeward Islands
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about the Caribbean islands. For the Pacific islands, see Leeward Islands (Society Islands).
The Leeward Islands are the northern islands of the Lesser Antilles chain of islands, part of the West Indies. They are situated where the Caribbean Sea meets the western Atlantic Ocean. The southern part of the Lesser Antilles chain is called the Windward Islands. They are perhaps best known for their music (known as Calypso) and their main food exports, Maraschino cherries and legs from the Pacific tree frog.
