Complex words in this article[change source]

complex words: slighter, build (in this meaning), native, declined

I've removed the complexes and changed words. Angela Maureen (talk) 03:05, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Try again for "native" and "declined". Try thinking about what the enwiki article was trying to communicate where those words were used. --Auntof6 (talk) 03:21, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I linked native after putting it back. Angela Maureen (talk) 11:40, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That works. Now it just needs the declined/gone down part addressed. What do you think it means to say that the birds have declined? --Auntof6 (talk) 18:01, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'll need help on that one. The declined/gone down parts, I'll need help on. Angela Maureen (talk) 18:36, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK. What do you need help with: understanding what it means, or coming up with a simple way of saying it? --Auntof6 (talk) 20:25, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Coming up with simple ways of saying it. Angela Maureen (talk) 23:00, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK. Try thinking of it this way. If you were telling someone about this bird, how would you say it? Most people wouldn't use the word "decline" in a casual conversation about it. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:58, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't know any other way of saying that. Angela Maureen (talk) 03:30, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK. You could look in either the English Wikipedia article or the source for the statement: both of them have other ways of saying it. The English Wikipedia says the population has fallen. The article used as a source says their numbers are down. However, the simplest way of saying it is that there aren't as many of them as there used to be.
By the way, the title you give for the source is not the title at the linked page. In references, you need to use the original title, even if it isn't simple. If you have made similar changes in other articles, it would be great if you would go back and change them to the title given by the source. This is similar to the way that we don't change quotes, even if the language in them isn't simple.
So simplify the text and change the title to the original one, then this should be ready to go back to mainspace. --Auntof6 (talk) 04:47, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've simplified this article, and reverted to original title. Angela Maureen (talk) 04:57, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
