The Cadillac Escalade IQ is an upcoming, battery electric, full-sized luxury SUV produced by American brand General Motors, under the Cadillac luxury division. The vehicle is likely to use a body-on-frame architecture and is on the electric vehicle based Ultium platform.[4] Despite using the name, it is not based on the internal combustion SUV. The vehicle is seven-seater, all-wheel drive, and takes similar design features from the Lyriq mid-size luxury crossover.

The vehicle uses an Ultium 24-module battery pack, with a usable capacity of over 200 kWh (720 MJ), which supplies 100 mi (160 km) of electric range in 20 minutes of direct current (DC) fast charging. Using a domestic charger, the IQ has a capacity of 19.2 kilowatts (AC), which gives a range of 37 mi (60 km) per hour.[5]

The IQ is significantly longer than the internal combustion fifth-generation Escalade, yet is slightly shorter than the ESV variant. The vehicle features 24-inch wheels, which are the same wheel offered on the Silverado EV RST.[5]

For powertrain, the IQ has 750 hp (560 kW) and 1,064 N⋅m (785 lbf⋅ft) of power and torque respectively using the Velocity Max mode.[3]

The vehicle features two permanent-magnet motors placed on front and rear axles. Cadillac states that the IQ will have a 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h) time in less than 5.0 seconds.[3]

Features on the IQ include: Blind Zone Steering Assist, a head-up display, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian alert, HD Surround Vision, lane keeping assist with lane departure warning, and IntelliBeam Auto High-Beam. It features an eTrunk (frunk) with up to 345.4-litres of space. Ground clearance is 175 mm (6.9 in) and the IQ has a maxium towing capacity of 3,628 kg (7,998 lb).[3][6]

The Fiat Topolino is a two-passenger battery electric quadricycle produced by Italian marque Fiat. The Topolino is mechanically identical to the battery electric Citroën Ami. The vehicle launched on 4 July 2023, and will arrive in November 2023 in Italy for the 2024 model year.[1]

The Toppolino revives the original 500 Topolino nameplate, which was a city car that was produced from 1936 to 1955.[2] The name Topolino (pronounced [topoˈliːno]) translates to little mouse, which was to signify the vehicle’s small size.[3]

Featuring obvious design cues from the original Fiat 500, which ran from 1957 to 1975, the Toppolino is the brand’s third fully-electric model after the New 500/500e city hatchback and the 600e subcompact crossover.

Like the Ami, to reduce its price, the Topolino remains produced in the PSA Kenitra plant in Morocco, and shipped over to Europe.

For the base Topolino model, features include: Silver exterior finishing, classic-styled mirrors, wheel covers which feature a unique Italian style, a rear carriage, central/door nets, floor mats, smartphone holder, and an interior mirror. For the Dolcevita, its features remain the same, but it adds: cabriolet roof, a door rope instead of a conventional door, and Dolcevita door sills.[4]

The Topolino comes in exclusively one color, a light green known as "Verde Vita ".

The Topolino has a 5.4 kWh lithium-ion, with a WMTC-rated range of 75 km (47 mi). The Topolino takes less than four hours to charge (0-100%).[4]

Design[change | change source]

The exterior design of the second-generation G90 was unveiled on November 30, 2021.[1][2] The design of the G90 features what the brand calls a "Crest Grille" and two-line headlamps, which has become Genesis' signature since the introduction of the G80 in April 2020. Harmonized with the headlamps is a parabolic line and a daylight opening line. The G90 includes the Korean design feature called the "Beauty of White Space", which blends a high-tech device with luxury details.[3] Its overall length is 5,275 mm (207.7 in), which is 70 mm longer than the previous generation. It features MLA headlamps, full-LED taillamps, and "Dynamic Welcome Lamps", which are already introduced onto the K8, Grandeur, and EV6.[4][5] The slim design of the headlamps was made possible by crossing the daytime running lamps, the turn signal, and the high beams.

The rear also incorporates Genesis' design language of two-line taillamps, which are elongated with the trunk. The Genesis logo is spread wide apart, which has also become a part of Genesis' design language. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive as optional.

Genesis' "Parabolic Line" design starts from the hood and is seamlessly designed from the bottom of the window to the trunk. Ensuring passengers receive an open atmosphere and privacy simultaneously, the Daylight Opening Lines are harmonized by thick C-pillars. The G90 has a choice of 3 wheels: 19-inch diamond-cutting wheels with Pirelli tires, 20-inch diamond-cutting wheels with Michelin tires, or 20-inch Dark Hyper Silver wheels with Michelin tires.[6]

The G90 features air conditioning that can be adjusted by a touch-type air conditioning panel. The G90 features Hyundai's connected car Integrated Cockpit (ccIC), which integrates the A 12.3-inch TFT LCD cluster and navigation into a panoramic display. A "G-Matrix" line pattern placed on the carbon, which the brand states "evokes a truly luxurious interior mood".[7] The Crown Wood and Stripe Wood garnish real wood garnish, also adding eco-friendly wood and recycled newspaper, which the brand states "creates a one-of-a-kind interior mood".[7]

Five interior design colors, and two G-Matrix configurations are available. The standard model has five seats for both SWB and LWB, however, the first-class VIP model has exclusively four seats.[8]

Long-wheelbase model[change | change source]

The second-generation G90 is available in a long wheelbase model, which gains an additional 190 mm (7.5 in) over the SWB model. For the LWB model, the rear doors and the C-pillar are both extended, ensuring more space for the rear passengers. The 20-inch wheels, which are not available on SWB models, give the vehicle a refined look.[9] The style the brand was going for was a lounge-like type, with its spacious rear area, and its 4-way leg rest. The LWB model exclusively comes with the semi-aniline leather seats and the seat quilting patterns.[7]

The G90 began production in South Korea in December 2021, and sales officially started in March 2023.[10]

The G90 launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 13 July 2023.[11]

The arrived in the US in early 2023, with deliveries starting in August 10 that year.[12]

The base model includes the 3,470 cc (3.5 L; 211.8 cu in) V6 model which produces a power and torque of 380 PS (279 kW; 375 hp) and 54 kg⋅m (530 N⋅m; 391 lbf⋅ft) respectively. The mild hybrid model which uses the same engine as the base utilizes a 48-volt mild hybrid system with an electric supercharger for additional power. Power and torque for the G90 is 415 PS (305 kW; 409 hp) and 56 kg⋅m (549 N⋅m; 405 lbf⋅ft) respectively. Both models use an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Jaguar E-Pace is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV (C-segment) produced by the British luxury vehicle manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover under the Jaguar marque. It was officially presented on 13 July 2017 and was the second production Jaguar SUV.[16] The vehicle is manufactured in Graz, Austria, by Magna Steyr and from 2018 is also built by Chery Jaguar Land Rover, JLR's joint venture with partner Chery, in Changshu, China.[17][16]

In Jaguar's SUV lineup, the E-Pace is ranked as the smallest vehicle, slotting below the compact I-Pace. The vehicle had received a facelift in 2021.[18] The vehicle features a range of petrol, diesel, mild hybrid models, and a plug-in hybrid model called the "P300e" joined the lineup in 2021. The vehicle is a worldwide model.

Internally designated X540, the E-Pace is the first vehicle to use the Premium Transverse Architecture, which is a platform designed for petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. It primarily shares its details with the sibling Range Rover Evoque and the larger facelifted Discovery Sport models.[19][20] The E-Pace was designed by a team under the direction of Jaguar chief designer Ian Callum.[20]

Production for the United Kingdom started in September 2017.[14] In Australia and New Zealand, the vehicle was introduced in March 2018.[21] The model went on sale in the US as a 2018 model. At launch, the lineup consisted of six models: the P200, P250 & P300, and the diesel D150, D180 & D240. Stunt driver Terry Grant performed a world record barrel roll jump in the car for the reveal which took place at the London ExCel centre.[17] The car did a 270 degree barrel roll and travelled 50 feet (15.3 metres) through the air.

Jaguar states its boot space is 577 litres (127 imp gal; 152 US gal). With all seats down, space increases to 1,234 litres (271 imp gal; 326 US gal). All-wheel drive models receive Jaguar’s "Active Driveline" system, which adds torque vectoring to the rear axle.[22] In 2017 at launch, trims consisted of the S, SE and HSE in the UK.[23] In the US at launch, trims consisted of the Base model ($39,595), S ($42,495), SE, ($45,295), HSE ($54,095), and the First Edition ($55,135).[24] In Australia and New Zealand, trims consist of the R-Dynamic, S, SE, HSE and the 300 Sport.

The vehicle features a unibody structure with optional front- or all-wheel drive. The vehicle's size is 4,411 mm (173.7 in), 1,984 mm (78.1 in), and 1,649 mm (64.9 in) in length, width and height respectively. As a C-segment vehicle, it is comparable in size to a Mercedes-Benz GLA. The vehicle had won the J.D. Power Top Small Premium SUV award in 2020.

Equipment[change | change source]

Standard features at launch are 18 to 19-inch wheels, automatic high-beam headlights, infotainment system with built-in navigation, mobile hotspot, and a Meridian Audio system. The Drive Pro package adds automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring. All models come with a 10-inch touchscreen. From 2017 to 2019, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay were both optional features, however from 2020 come standard.[25]

Driver assistance features include a 360-degree camera, the Stop & Go system, and self-parking assist.[25]

MY21 LCI[change | change source]

In October 2020, the E-Pace receives a facelift for the 2021 model year. The E-Pace receives aesthetic changes that bring it more in the line of the larger F-Pace. The front receives a revised front bumper, revised grille with a refined mesh grille, and Jaguar's double J-blade LED daytime running lights. A larger 11.4-inch curved display runs Jaguar's "Pivi Pro" system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. A digital rear view mirror is now optional. Steering wheel, gearbox, and air conditioning designs have all been restyled. The vehicle's chassis and powertrain have also been revised to offer better performance and lower cabin noise. The "Dynamic Handling" package adds adaptive dampers for changeable experience and handling characteristics.[18]

The P300e plug-in hybrid model is added to the lineup for 2021. It pairs a 1.5-litre engine with a 80 kW synchronous reluctance motor. It features a 15 kWh lithium-ion battery, delivering a fully-electric range of 53 km (33 mi). In Europe, the P300e is available to charge via a Type 2 connector. Charging at a domestic AC port at up to 7 kW for a 100% charge will take 2 hours and 12 minutes. Using a 3-pin domestic socket, a 100% charge will take 6 hours and 42 minutes. Charging via an AC public charger at a capacity of up to 7 kW for an 80% charge will take 1 hour and 24 minutes. Charging via a DC charger at a capacity of up to 50 kW for an 80% charge will take about 30 minutes.[26]

For the 2021 model year, specific models gained a mild hybrid system, which adds a 48-volt starter-generator. A flexible-fuel mild hybrid model based off of the P200 is available exclusively in France.[27]

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class with the series designation "205" is the fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, a range of compact executive cars (D-segment) produced by German automaker Daimler AG under the premium Mercedes-Benz brand from 2014 to 2023.

The range consists of the W205 saloon, the V205 long-wheelbase saloon, the S205 estate, the C205 coupé, and the A205 cabriolet. The car was officially unveiled on 16 December 2013 and debuted at the 2014 North American International Auto Show. Series production had initiated on 4 February 2014, with sales commencing in March of that year. The W205 embodies Mercedes' newly-conceived exterior design language that the S-Class and the GL-Class had followed. Succeeding the W204 model produced from 2007 to 2014, the W205 is the first to use the rear-wheel-drive based Mercedes-Benz MRA I platform. Extensively using aluminium, the switch in platform results in a weight loss of up to 100 kg (220 lb). The exterior design—managed and directed under Robert Lešnik—was finalised in 2010.

As the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class—commencing production in January 2013—had taken the position of being the brand's entry-level saloon, Mercedes had decided to make the W205 larger than its predecessor and more like the S-Class. According to Daimler, the structure is more rigid than other vehicles in its class. Initially, the C-Class was produced in Germany, the United States, and South Africa, however other locations were introduced throughout its production. Akin to previous two generations, the W205 is available in both rear- and all-wheel drive; the latter marketed as 4MATIC.

While sedan and estate models were available from 2014 as 2015 models, coupe and convertible variants had arrived in 2016 as 2017 models. Initially, the only plug-in hybrid model available was the petrol-powered C350e. In 2019, it was replaced by the C300e, with the addition of the diesel plug-in hybrid C300de. The C-Class had received a life cycle impulse in 2019. In December 2020, production of the sedan had ended. Approximately 2.5 million examples were made, with a majority of them sold in China.[3]

Pre-production development[change | change source]

Oliver Winkler, project and development leader for the W205, had said that development of the C-Class had started in 2009.[4] Robert Lešnik was the overseer of a team composed of 65 people—including design engineers—and he and the group were assigned with conceiving a new iteration of the "sensual purity" design ethos of which he had helped create in 2009. Lešnik, design manager and director of the C-Class and S-Class, defines the "purity" ethos as "taking off everything you don't need".[1] Lešnik states that in 2009, 2010, the surface language was defined. He says that the team wanted to "keep it round" and "concentrate on the proportions and a good stance."[1] The C-Class and the S-Class were the first two vehicles that had featured this newly devised strategy. While the W222 S-Class' overall exterior design was formed in 2009, the C-Class had followed in 2010.[1] Before its official launch, rumours of a five-door hatchback variant had spread.[5][6] Despite insiders from the Frankfurt Motor Show stating that it would compete with the 3 Series Gran Turismo, Daimler AG had never released a hatchback variant of the C-Class.[5]
