References[change source]

Hi! I noticed you are adding articles for the Folklore edit-a-thon. When you are bringing over the references and sources, can you fix them to be correct. You can see an example I just did for you at Special:Diff/9451873. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 20:07, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Simple English[change source]

Hey, Alperen. Thanks for making the Feminism and Folklore contest part of your early SEWP experience. I wish you'd posted sooner, because Haoreima and I could have helped you with a few things. I've read two of your articles, and the English just isn't simple. It looks like you didn't understand what was wanted. The short version is that if SEWP's articles aren't much easier to read than en.wiki's, then there's no point to SEWP.

One of the tools I use for checking the simplicity of my writing is this readability gizmo: [1] It's been rating a lot of your stuff as college level. For the contest, I like to see nothing older than middle school (6th through 8th grade). It also adds a non-subjective element to the judging.

Let me know if you want more information or if you'd rather figure it out yourself. Good luck! Darkfrog24 (talk) 20:49, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the evaluation but I have to object your judgement in several grounds 1)The tool you use has not been designated as the only evaluation criteria before the event started 2)Some of the articles of other users you have accepted also rate difficult, very difficult or fairly difficult in this tool. Alperen (talk) 06:13, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As @Darkfrog24 stated it is only one the tools they use to evaluate the entries. They do use others but you are being advised on what they are looking for and I highly recommend you heed their comments and not object to the criteria of what they use. They have been doing this for quite a few years and it has been quite successful. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:26, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also when replying, please remember to ping editors as not everyone watches talk pages. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:27, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the preliminary evaluations that I've been giving other contestants' entries over the past two months, you'll see that I always read the article with my mighty human brain as well.[2][3][4] If I were relying only on the gizmo, that would indeed be a problem.
That's why I wish you'd posted some of your entries sooner. Haoreima and I would have given your work the same attention. Darkfrog24 (talk) 01:50, 3 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When you create pages, you need to ensure everything is in place on the page. This includes:

  1. References (correct and linked)
  2. Categories (every page needs to be in at least one category but most are usually in 3 or more)
  3. Sister links (commons, quotes, voyage, etc.)
  4. Simplified English
  5. Correct sections

A lot of your pages are missing one or more of these and I already asked you to correct the references/sources on one page but instead you started making other pages. Please slow down and make sure the pages are correctly laid out. Thanks - PDLTalk to me!Please don't eat da 🐑! 06:32, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
