Welcome[change source]

Hello! I am assuming you have come over from the English Wikipedia, so you are probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay. Here are a few links to help you adjust:

There is much to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that do not exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Do have a look around and see what you would like to do. Thank you for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need help. User:Rus793 (talk) 15:46, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} Hello! I am not sure how to link back to my account in the English Wikipedia. If anyone could help me with that I would be very appreciative. Fritzmann2002 October 28, 2015

The simplest way I know of is just do an Interwiki link like this: User:Fritzmann2002. If that is not exactly what you are looking for then I suggest asking at Simple talk where the question would get more attention. Thanks User:Rus793 (talk) 15:43, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion of Banksia ilicifolia[change source]

The page you wrote, Banksia ilicifolia, has been selected for quick deletion. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. You can find more information about the reason here. October 2015[change source]

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Banksia ilicifolia" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Please see Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia User:Rus793 (talk) 15:23, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, if you do want to recreate the page, simplifying and attributing it per the above guideline, note that the title should be italicized (per WP:ITALICTITLE). User:Rus793 (talk) 15:43, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
User:Rus793 That article was NOT copied and pasted from the main 'Pedia! I spent and hour translating it into Simple English using the translate Beta Feature! Fritzmann2002 28 October 2015
Sorry, that was a canned message. I should have caught that and mentioned it was a translation. Regardless, it was nominated for being too complex for this project. Unfortunately the beta translation feature was not designed to translate anything into Simple English (aka Basic English), just into English. You may ask for the article to be undeleted here: Wikipedia:Deletion review. Or you may request an administrator move it to your sandbox so you can simplify and wikify it there. If you need help simplifying it or would like to see the appropriate guidelines or help files, just ask. User:Rus793 (talk) 20:58, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I have asked there. I hope it will be retrieved, but there seems to be opposition to that, so it may become a userspace draft. Either way, I don't think I'll be hanging around here any longer. I'd rather spend my time editing in the English Wikipedia. Fritzmann2002 29 October 2015
There is a learning curve here, more so perhaps for experienced English Wikipedians. I know it took me a little while to learn the nuances here. Simplewiki articles need to be simplified and wikified for readers that include children and those learning English. So, you're right, it is easier editing at Enwiki. I see it was approved to move it to your userspace. If you do wish to resubmit the article and would like any help, please let me know. User:Rus793 (talk) 15:19, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
