Valley Center is a city in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. It is a suburb of Wichita. In 2020, 7,340 people lived there.[4]

Valley Center was incorporated on September 29, 1885.[5] It was named for its place in the valley of the Arkansas River.[6]

Valley Center is at 37°49′47″N 97°22′10″W / 37.82972°N 97.36944°W / 37.82972; -97.36944 (37.829719, -97.369341).[7] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 7.11 square miles (18.41 km2). All of it land.[2]

Valley Center is two miles west of combined Interstate 135, U.S. Route 81, and K-15.

2020 census[change | change source]

The 2020 census says that there were 7,340 people, 2,620 households, and 1,998 families living there. Of the households, 76.1% owned their home and 23.9% rented their home.

The median age was 36.0 years. Of the people, 86.1% were White, 1.4% were Black, 1.0% were Native American, 0.6% were Asian, 2.2% were from some other race, and 8.6% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 7.9% of the people.[3][9]

The 2010 census[10] says that there were 6,822 people, 2,484 households, and 1,862 families living in Valley Center.
