Suggestions for new reports[change source]

@Hydriz: Here are some suggestions for new reports.

  • References that link to any Wikipedia (Wikipedia shouldn't be used as a reference)
  • Hardcoded categories that should usually be added only via templates. For example, in mainspace, Category:Disambiguation should be added via a dab template such as {{disambiguation}}.
  • Stub articles that don't have any hardcoded categories

I have no idea how feasible these are. --Auntof6 (talk) 08:22, 13 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As these reports do not currently exist on the English Wikipedia, it might take some time for me to create them. Do give me some time to prepare these reports. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 14:54, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6: I have managed to produce the first database report. It checks for the existence of the "wikipedia.org" domain in references and may have false positives. Please do report here if you notice problems. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 14:48, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Hydriz: Thanks! I will work on those as I get time. Can I mark or delete the ones I fix, or would you rather the report page is left as it is? --Auntof6 (talk) 00:06, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Auntof6: It will be overwritten the next time the bot runs (when a new database dump is available), so it is really up to you. --Hydriz (talk) 03:51, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Blank single-author pages[change source]

@Hydriz: I think it would make sense to limit which namespaces appear in this report. What do you think? I think we could at least filter out user and user talk pages. --Auntof6 (talk) 05:02, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Auntof6: Removed. The change will be reflected the next time the bot runs. --Hydriz (talk) 12:42, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pages with references to Wikipedia[change source]

@Hydriz: Thanks for this report! I had taken care of almost all the ones from the June 25 report. (there are some where it is valid to have Wikipedia in a ref.) When I noticed that it got refreshed on July 2, I started working on them again, but I found that the ones listed had been fixed the first time around. Maybe the July refresh was from the same database dump as the original? Or maybe the July 2 refresh wasn't meant to be new stuff? This isn't a big problem, I'm just looking to understand how these work. Thanks again! --Auntof6 (talk) 03:35, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The database report is made from a database dump, and it is a snapshot of the wiki at a certain point in time. If you have made changes to the page after July 2nd, then those changes are not reflected in the database dump. It should be properly removed in the next database dump. Thanks! --Hydriz (talk) 10:27, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request to enable reports that exist in enwiki[change source]

I think it would be helpful to have the following reports here. These all exist on enwiki.

  • Linked misspellings
  • Unbelievable life spans
  • Completely unreferenced biographies of living people (oldest)
  • Possibly unreferenced biographies of living people
  • Uncategorized and unreferenced biographies of living people
  • Polluted categories
  • Orphaned talk pages
  • Ownerless pages in the user space
  • Talk subpages with redirect parent
  • Broken section anchors

Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:16, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions for new reports[change source]

  • Articles that have headings of either "See also" or "External links" (could be any number of equal signs)
  • Redirects that don't have an "R from" or "R to" template

Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 07:16, 1 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Test Page Accident[change source]

@Hydriz: I checked your test page and discovered that it was broken. do you plan on fixing it? I can fix it myself if you really want me to. Please let me know. XWithdrawal (talk) 13:19, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Database reports/Forgotten articles[change source]

@Hydriz: I'd recommend adding a new report for forgotten articles, which are basically the articles that haven't been edited for the longest time. Thanks. SirGreen95 (talk) 05:53, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@SirGreen95 Those are listed at Special:AncientPages. Most of the oldest pages were last updated by a bot that removed interwiki links when Wikidata was created. Lights and freedom (talk) 06:05, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lights and freedom: Oh, alright. Thanks for the help. SirGreen95 (talk) 06:01, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
