"Amarillo by Morning" is a 1973 song by Terry Stafford and was taken from his album Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose. It was covered by country singer George Strait for his second studio album Strait from the Heart and went to number 4 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and topped the country singles chart in Canada. It was also covered by country band Asleep at the Wheel.
