Bolton (called Bolton le moors in the past) is a town in the North West of England. It is to the north-west of Manchester. It is part of Greater Manchester. Bolton was part of Lancashire until the 1970s. It was famous for its cotton industry.

The former Bolton Institute of Higher Education became the University of Bolton in 2005.[1]

Healthcare is mostly run by Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
