Borkum is an island and municipality of the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. In 2016 the municipality had about 5,500 people. It covers an area of 31 km².

Borkum makes part of the East Frisian Islands (German: Ostfriesische Inseln). It is the most western island.

It lies west of the island of Juist (and the uninhabited islands of Brauerplate, Kachelotplate and Memmert), and east of the small Dutch island of Rottumeroog.
