The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small dog breed in the group called "toy dogs". They were bred earlier than the 16th century.

They were kept as pets and hunting dogs by many members of the royal family in England during the 16th century. King Charles II of England liked the breed, so this is how the dog was named. This dog can stand up to 36 cm or 16 inches in height. They average about 9 kilograms in weight. The breed can live for up to 10-14 years. They are still popular in England and are becoming popular in the United States. There are four types of Cavaliers each with their own coat markings and colours: Ruby - golden coloured, Tri-colour - black body and Dipped white, with a white muzzle and brown marking scattered around.
