Impounded car death investigation
[change | change source]On September 8, 2025, a dead body was found in an abandoned Tesla car registered to Burke in Los Angeles. The body was inside a plastic bag in the trunk. It was cut into many pieces and very decomposed.[15][16] Police report the body was in the car for a long time.[17] The car was abandoned in Hollywood Hills and taken to an impound lot;[18] the car had been parked there for at least a month.[19] TMZ says the car was not reported stolen.[20] On September 16, the local medical examiner publicly identified the body as 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, a girl who went missing on April 5, 2024, when she was 13 years old.[18][21][22] TMZ says that Burke had the same tattoo on his finger as Rivas, and that her mother said Rivas had a boyfriend named David.[19][23]
Burke performed in Minneapolis on September 8 for his Withered tour; his spokesperson said he was fully cooperating with police.[24][25][26] The next day, Crocs and Hollister Co. removed promotional content featuring Burke.[27] After the identification of the body, TMZ reported that Burke's concert in Seattle (scheduled for September 17) was canceled.[28]
