The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are smartphones developed and made by Apple Inc.[1] They are the sixteenth generation of the iPhone. It succeeds the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini. They were announced on September 7, 2022 at Apple Event.[2] The iPhone 14 was released on September 16, 2022, whilst the iPhone 14 Plus was released on October 7, 2022.[3]

iPhone 14 Plus is the first iPhone to use the ''Plus'' title since iPhone 8 Plus in 2017. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus became the first entry-level iPhones to have a satellite connectivity feature. They became the last normal iPhones to use Lightning connector.

In December 2024, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were discontinued in European Union to follow the rules of the European Union.[4][5] In February 2025, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were no longer available in worldwide when iPhone 16e released.[6][7] In September 2025, Apple extended the free access to satellite features for iPhone 14.[8][9]

Problems

Rollercoaster ride can make the false emergency call on some the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.[10] Winter sports like snowboarding and skiers also made the false crash alerts.[11] It was reported that are false crash detection. Apple will trying to fix the crash detection alert during the next update.[12]

Software

They used iOS 16 for the first time, they can upgrade to the other versions like iOS 17, iOS 18 or iOS 26 when they come out.[13]
