Lima is a village in Adams County, Illinois in the United States. The land area of the village is 0.1 square miles.[1] The ZIP code (postal zone) is 62348.[2]
History
[change | change source]European-Americans first settled in the area in 1828. The village was platted in 1833. The first post office was in 1836.[3]
In the late 1830s, members of the church of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) moved to the area. In 1845, church leaders said the church members should leave because of attacks on them by other people.[3]
On May 10, 2003, a tornado caused much damage but no loss of life in Lima. [4][5]
Geography
[change | change source]The village's elevation is 650 (198 meters) above mean sea level.[6] Whiteoak Creek runs along the east side of Lima. The Mississippi River is about five miles to the west.

[change | change source]In 2020, there were 148 people living in Lima.[1] The number of households in 2024 was 75.[1] That year, the income per household was $74,375.[1]
