Najma Chowdhury (26 February 1942 – 8 August 2021) was a Bangladeshi academic. She was known for creating women studies in Bangladesh. She founded the Women and Gender Studies department of the University of Dhaka.[1] She was an advisor in the Muhammad Habibur Rahman caretaker government in 1996.[2] Chowdhury was born in Sylhet, then-Bengal Presidency.

Chowdhury died on 8 August 2021 in Dhaka from COVID-19, aged 79.[3]
