Palantir Technologies is an information technology company based in Denver, Colorado. it was founded by Peter Thiel.

The company's name comes from The Lord of the Rings where the magical palantíri were "seeing-stones."

Palantir Gotham is used by the United States Intelligence Community. [1] It is also used by German state police in Hesse and by police in Denmark to assess how likely people are to commit crimes.[2]

Palantir Foundry was used by NHS England in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in England to analyze the operation of the vaccination program. [3] The contract was extended in 2023.[4]

Palantir Metropolis is used by hedge funds, banks, and financial services firms.[5]

The company has been publicly supporting Ukraine in the war with Russia and opened an office in Kyiv in 2022. [6]
