Note about the shooting incident of 2021[change source]

Hello all, A few days ago, ALec Baldwin fired a gun on the set of Rust, as part of a scene. During the incident, he wounded a member of the crew (camerawoman, I think) and severely wounded the (co?) producer of the movie. The member of the crew later died in hospital. Investigations as to what happened are ongoing. Earlier today I removed a sentence calling him a killer. I just wanted to point out that at the moment, the police treat this as an accident. Again: As part of the movie scene, he was expected to fire the gun at another person. Until he is actually convicted of a crime, we must presume he is innocent. To all those adding about the incident, be sure to use reliable sources.--Eptalon (talk) 18:24, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

He wasn't suppose to point the gun at the cinematographer. He is guilty of the killing, through his own admission. (He pulled the trigger, and a projectile was launched, killing the cinematographer) Weather by accident or on purpose, he did kill her. He doesn't need to be convicted of a crime. Looks like he may be using a PR firm to monitor his public image. 65.92.108.153 (talk) 19:17, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Finding out what happened is the task of the police force. Until he is convicted of a crime by an actual court of law, he is presumed innocent. --Eptalon (talk) 19:25, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely correct that "killer" should not be used, especially in the opening sentence, at this point. That said, there is a distinction between "he killed" and the legal term that is implied when it is said "he murdered". Absolutely we should err on the side of caution here and wait for more facts through high quality sources. --Gordonrox24 | Talk 20:03, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed - there's no indication that he knew the gun was loaded & it shouldn't have been. We shouldn't imply that anyone's guilty of anything unless it's proven. Jim Michael (talk) 16:34, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2021 shooting incident: name and undue weight[change source]

The shooting has its own article, at English wiki: [1].
Now that the article is semi-protected might be a good time to put in a red-link:
2021 gun shot on the film set of Rust.
(Note: "Shooting on a film set", much of the time means to film a movie.) 89.8.155.66 (talk) 03:05, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It should still be called Rust shooting incident, like on en. There wouldn't be an article about the shooting of a film. Jim Michael (talk) 16:34, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Let us keep an open mind, about what we should call our article about the shooting incident.
Alex Baldwin prop incident? 89.8.155.66 (talk) 16:46, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Alec Baldwin movie set shooting - see [2].

For now, I have created the page Rust shooting incident (which is the same title EnWP uses). We can easily move it later, if needed. --Eptalon (talk) 18:25, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Undue weight of shooting incident[change source]

The article now has the lede, and one section about the shooting incident (and some lists). Please remove the section title, and replace the entire section about the shooting, with:
"In 2021 on a film set in the United States, Baldwin was holding a gun used as a prop, that shot and killed one person. Investigations as to what happened, are ongoing as of 2021's fourth quarter. (Related page: Rust shooting incident)". 89.8.155.66 (talk) 19:15, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The current section about the shooting is good as it is. The main problem with the article is that there isn't any other prose other than the lead & the section about the shooting. There should sections titled Early life, Career & Personal life. Jim Michael (talk) 07:22, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The section is way too long for the current article. (How the section should be, if the article had been bigger, is a different issue. Sometimes sections don't get changed for years!) 89.8.122.178 (talk) 08:14, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've added an Early life section. Jim Michael (talk) 12:39, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
