Talk:Liao River
Things to add[change source]
I have just written a stub, but I think the following should be added:
- Bigger/important cities at the river? - if they are too many limit to population over a certain size, or perhaps the top 5 by population/importance?
- It is an important waterway, it certainly is used for the transport of goods. So what kind of ships can get to where (requires the list of cities)
- If we could learn more about the river supposedly changing its course in the 1950s? (by itself, or by a Chinese project)?
Just ideas for extension. Might need skills of Chinese, and knowledge of Chinese geography though. --Eptalon (talk) 17:59, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- Examples that can be taken as inspiration en:Loire (France's longest, 1000km); en:Seine (France's number two, 780km); en:Rhine (1.250km), en:Elbe (1100km)--Eptalon (talk) 19:51, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- 1st one Done, listed the cities. Surprising little cities it passed by, so I listed all. I will be doing the rest over the course. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 19:53, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- 3rd one Done. Listed the project that caused it. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 10:51, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Eptalon For 2nd one, apparently there isn't any recorded usage of transport of goods (per en/zh and source checks). What I can find is that there are oil fields nearby but oil wasn't transported. I think this is the best I can expand based on your points. Camouflaged Mirage (talk) 10:54, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
- I can't help you further. Its just, if I look at en:Rhine (1200km, or so): There are 20-odd major European cities (100k inhabitants or more) along its route, this means it is a major shipping route for about 800 of those 1200km (from en:Basel to its eastuary. If I look at en:Loire (France's longest, flowing into the Atlantic, 1000km) - 4 of these 100k+ cities, goods traffic yes, but today mostly wine-growing/tourism. 4 atomic power plants on its course. Many castles. Really difficult to say what we can write about the river.--Eptalon (talk) 11:42, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
