Mugunth Kumar (born September 29, 1983, in Madurai, Tamilnadu), is a Software Engineer working for Honeywell in Singapore. He was student of Nanyang Technological University, finished his Masters in Information Systems. In 2004, he obtained his Bachelors degree from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore. He was working in India for about three years, before moving to Singapore for pursuing his higher studies.

Professional History[change | change source]

Mugunth Kumar worked for a well-known[source?] company General Electric, America's Most admired company, for around 2 years, till July 2007. Prior to this he worked in some company as a software engineer for a year or so.

Wikipedia Career[change | change source]

Mugunth joined Wikipedia, the world's largest multiplaying game arena on September, 2005. But owing to his extremely busy[source?] schedule, he could edit only few pages. However, from January, 2007, he understood that Wikipedia is a serious project and started editing fervently. His total edits on Wikipedia is over 1000 as of December, 2007. He crossed the 1000 mark on November 30 , 2007. Owing to the fact that he edits his user page, just to update this numbers, he's deemed to suffer from Editcountitis. He also contributes to Tamil Wikipedia with the user name "Mugunth Kumar".

Vandalism on Wikipedia[change | change source]

Mugunth has been accused of vandalism [1] on some articles, by some newbies because he has removed over 50 links in the external links section. Strangely though, he did not bite the new comers.

Recent Addictions on Wikipedia[change | change source]

Just like a drug addict, his main Wikipedia hobby is to click the Recent Changes link and fighting vandalism.

Top Priority Work on Wikipedia[change | change source]

Majority of Mugunth's edits were found to be spam cleaning. He is a member of WikiProject:External Links. He marks {{fact}} tags for POV like statements, placing {{advert}} and such related tags on articles, but never ever tries to improve the same article. Because Wikipedia has over 2 million articles He is more interested in improving quality of existing articles and not in creating new articles.

Mugunth's Favorite tools[change | change source]

In an Interview with Mugunth, he stated that, Twinkle is his life on Wikipedia as he is a vandal fighter. He also uses Popups which helps him when he occasionally edits. Similarly, he vouches for WikiScanner for fighting anonymous vandals.[1]

Mugunth often claims that he is a specialist in Computer Science[source?], which is not accepted by many of his friends. As a result he tries his hand at editing a variety of Computer related articles.

Mugunth is an avid photographer. From the photographs found on Flickr, it has been found that he uses the Canon PowerShot S5 IS.

Known Languages[change | change source]

Mugunth knows some Japanese, and he cleared JLPT Level 3 exam on December 2004, and I was accredited at J3 in the JETRO Business Japanese Exam on June 2005. Apart from Japanese, he claimed to know English at near-native level on his old Wikipedia page. He's a native speaker of Tamil and also contributes to the Tamil language version of Wikipedia.
