User:Sju hav/Guidelines for articles about scientists, at Simple-wiki
- One of the largest Wikipedias, has some articles that I think Simple-wiki does not need (in the shape that the articles are in).
- After presenting some of those articles, that arguably might not be good enough for Simple-wiki,
- I will suggest possible guidelines.
- One article with no notabilty showing
- Another article has no references, where the scientist is not one of the authors. So, no independent references (except for a university website, saying that she and seven others became professor emeritus in 2016 - at the University of Sarajevo).
- Guidelines on Simple-wiki should maybe say:
- Scientists discover and/or describe things often. Arguably not all such events are notable.
- Has the scientist received one award, which makes her wiki-noted, or "stand-alone notable" ?
- (A scientist can be notable (or noted) enough, that Simple-wiki leaves an article (where the title, is the name of the scientist) on the website. I will call such, being "stand-alone notability".)
- Has the scientist made a discovery that has been reported by
- Has the scientist received a combination of awards - scientific awards and other civil awards?
- Is the combination notable?
Being part of the staff of Harvard or any other university, does not mean that it becomes automatic that all such persons are "stand-alone notable" (on Wikipedia).
Some scientists might be notable for having books published by notable publishers.
Some scientists might have become celebreties of some sort, after being a presenter on many documentary films.
Examples of things that alone might not be enough for a stand-alone article about one scientist[change | change source]
- "he directed the excavations in Afghanistan at Bamiyan and Hadda on the sites of Tape Shotor and Tape Tope Kalan".
- (Something like that, might belong in Archeology in Afghanistan)
