I need help getting a draft to the main page. Thnx BorisKhlivski (talk) 16:17, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved the page for you. By the way, unlike the larger English Wikipedia, we do not have a formal draft system here, so in future you can create the article directly. Chenzw  Talk  16:20, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Spamusernameblocked[change source]

I sometimes see this term appearing in the block log. What does it mean?--Trade (talk) 20:55, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is a template: {{spamusernameblocked}}. Chenzw  Talk  02:43, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

archive box[change source]

I am not sure what exactly you are talking about. Please be specific - where is the search box, and how does it not work? Chenzw  Talk  15:38, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
User:Thegooduser/templates/talkarchivelistbox, the search box does not look up/work when I look up things in my archives, I think the title is set different in the search box, not sure how to change it. I am sorry for always being not-specific. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 15:46, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It works fine for me - I searched for "biography", and the results led me to archive 2. Chenzw  Talk  15:54, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, it didn't work last time, maybe a system glitch? Thanks for your help anyways :) --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 15:58, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

21:11, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

how can I get my page published on this page

Wikipedia is not a business directory. Unless you can ensure that you write in a neutral manner, and the person/organisation you are writing about can satisfy the notability requirements, I am afraid that you cannot create an article about them. Chenzw  Talk  18:24, 13 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I seemed to be having many problems on irc right now, can you help me? --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:14, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you have to be specific about what problem you are having. Chenzw  Talk  00:16, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I was not being specific at first because I thought you might say no, and didn't want to waste your time reading the whole message. Anyways I get 2 problems.
  1. I get: Cannot send to nick/channel on every Wikipedia channel, but when I PM (Private message) Oshwah "test" it works fine.
  2. It says 'You are already logged in as realthegooduser', how do I log out?

Hope you can help --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:19, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

#wikipedia-simple is being set to moderated currently, which requires that all users be "voiced" in order to be able to speak in that channel. I have asked someone to grant auto-voice to you. Please request for a Wikimedia cloak if you have not done so. To logout, you can PM logout to NickServ, but there is usually no good reason to do so. Chenzw  Talk  00:25, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
I need to logout because my IP is shared by many people, also I have already asked for a cloak, in which my request has not been processed yet --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:28, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Also what will happen if I don't have a cloak or if my cloak request gets denied? --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:32, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(1) Sharing an IP with others still does not require you to logout. Login states for nicks on IRC are not tracked by IP address; they are tracked on a per-session basis - if you use freenode webchat with X browser on Y computer and identify to your nick, then only that particular browser on that particular computer is "logged in" to that nick, and no one else (not even anyone else with the same IP) can hijack it. The same applies to your wiki account. (2) If your cloak request gets denied, you don't get a cloak. Your particular IRC account has been given auto-voice for the wikipedia-simple channel. Chenzw  Talk  00:35, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
How do I know if they deny my cloak? --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:37, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, presumably someone will tell you. It has been years since I applied a cloak, so please consult the cloaks page on meta, or ask the person who originally gave you directions to apply for a cloak. Chenzw  Talk  00:41, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
PM 'logout' to nickserv does not work, I get "invalid" command --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:46, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Then I am afraid you have to check NickServ's help by yourself (PM help to NickServ). Again, there is usually no good reason for manually logging out on IRC, and what you said earlier is not a good reason, because shared IPs have no impact on nick accounts. What you are thinking is not how IRC works. Chenzw  Talk  00:49, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
Nickserv's help menu does not have a logout button, so I will just let it be then. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:51, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

also to note: I logged in in a normal window for irc, but i use private window for irc, and I am logged in there, that's fine (normal) right? (I am sorry for bothering you, I will try not to ask anymore questions after this) --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 00:53, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure what you are asking. Each window is a separate IRC session, but you cannot use the same nick on both sessions at the same time. Chenzw  Talk  01:28, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. I have hard times describing things, I do try my very best, it's not easy for me. This is what I am saying.: I log in as 'realthegooduser' on a normal window, I close the Irc session. I open Private window, login as "realthegooduser" IRC says 'you are already logged in as realthegooduser' --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:35, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That is because it doesn't disconnect the main window immediately, but only after a couple minutes of not receiving anything. What situation are you in where you would want to close and then immediately reopen from a new window? Naleksuh (talk) 01:37, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

┌─────────────────────────────────┘
I know this might sound stupid and is not an excuse for disruptive editings, I have a problem where I go crazy when I don't log out of things. --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:41, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An excuse is not necessary, staying connected would be nice, but is not required. You could consider using an IRC bouncer such as http://irccloud.com. That way, you could sign out of the website while remaining connected for others to message you. Naleksuh (talk) 01:43, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is that an app? I use Linux so it might not work --Thegooduser Let's Talk! :) 🍁 01:45, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, it is a website, which can be used by anything with a web browser. I have not actually tried it for myself though, but many other people use it Naleksuh (talk) 01:46, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
