Hello! I noticed that you may have come here from another Wikipedia, so you know a little about how things work here. I hope you like it here and decide to stay! Here are some links to help you adjust:

There's a lot to do here. Most of it is writing articles that do not exist yet, which you can do by translating from other Wikipedias, but have a look around and see what you want to do. Thanks for joining us, and you know how to contact me if you need any help. Barras (talk) 12:26, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, Toni, considering that it's a GA, a potentially controversial topic, and has had a lot of vandalism from a lot of different editors. But considering the positions DJ takes on protection, you may be barking up the wrong tree. I'd suggest bringing it up on WP:Simple talk, which is the general discussion page for the WP and where requests for page protection are generally discussed, or ask a different admin Purplebackpack89≈≈≈≈ 18:17, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It hasn't had a lot of vandalism its worst day in recent history was a whoping 3 edits. That is almost no vandalism at all. You really don't get the idea of what wikipedia is do you? Blocking off editing is a very very very last resort when nothing else works. Our goal is to allow anyone to edit. Which is why one of our slogans is "The Encyclopedia that anyone can edit." -DJSasso (talk) 18:21, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
...which also means we're "the encyclopedia where editors have to waste a lot of time reverting vandalism on pages that should be protected and aren't". The reason this wikipedia isn't able to get off the ground is that we haven't gotten tough enough on page protection and fighting cross-wiki vandalism. If I was an admin, I'd silverlock Adolf Hitler in a heartbeat. DJ, on the other hand, believes the protection threshold should be very high, far too high IMO. You probably should have asked another admin, considering DJ's stances Purplebackpack89≈≈≈≈ 18:27, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Right that is the trade off we make. We agree to accept that problem because we want anyone to be able to edit. This wiki not taking off has nothing to do with vandalism. Its mostly because people don't believe there is a need to have two english wikis. Most people don't see the point of editing this one when they can just edit the normal one. And when you try and say well we are simpler english they respond with so just rewrite the english articles in simpler english. Vandalism isn't really a problem people see here. The other main reason people see here is that we allow people that have had problems on en edit still even through they were banned on en. Which makes people view us as a penal colony. -DJSasso (talk) 18:33, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
