Blanking pages

Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia! I've noticed that you have blanked a few bad pages. Instead of blanking them, it is much better to add the {{QD}} tag to pages that you believe to be nonconstructive. Then, an administrator will review the tag and take action accordingly. However, please do check that the page meets one of our quick deletion criteria before tagging, else you may wish to file a request for deletion instead. Blanking pages may confuse users, and potentially put off contributors that intend to add more to the page, and mean no harm. Thanks! :) --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 14:13, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Catalan (talk) 14:25, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for tagging pages, but it would be more useful for administrative purposes, we will need to check the (former) contents of the page beforehand, to simply add the tag at the top of the page, while keeping the rest of the page in tact. Also, a note on your two created articles: please don't copy directly from the English Wikipedia. Generally, said pages are far more complex, both in terms of language and actual content, than is suitable on this wiki. If you could simplify these a bit, and perhaps cut them down, that would be very much appreciated :) If you do so, please also attribute the articles. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 14:38, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

June 2017

We like and strongly encourage helpful changes to Wikipedia, but "Designated survivor" was directly copied and pasted from the main English Wikipedia. Please do not do that. Such articles are usually too complex. They need to be simplified before or immediately after being added to the Simple English Wikipedia. In addition, be sure to include attribution on the article's talk page. Thank you. Auntof6 (talk) 16:07, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming users

Hello, Nestor Lozano, and welcome to Simple English Wikipedia. I noticed that you left welcome messages for some users here, including Crawshawbooth1972. You probably didn't know, but on this wiki we prefer to welcome users only after we see that they are making constructive edits here. Please keep that in mind before you welcome a user.

You might be interested in some of the ways this wiki is different from other Wikipedias. I have a list at User:Auntof6/Things I would like Wikipedia editors to know#Things we do here that might be different from other Wikis. Feel free to look at that and let me know if you have any questions. --Auntof6 (talk) 16:36, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging articles for no sources, no context, etc.

Until you are more used to the way this Wikipedia operates, it would be better if you don't add maintenance tags to articles. It is true that an article that just says something like "Florence is a city in Italy" isn't as useful as it could be, but it's better to see those articles as opportunities to add more info, rather than to just place tags on them. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 22:23, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Editing other user's pages and talk pages

Hi, I was wondering why you are creating redirects in other users namespace as you did here? This is an existing user with admin rights. Chrissymad (talk) 14:28, 25 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Chrissymad: The abuse filter account isn't a user with admin rights, it's an automated MediaWiki account used by Special:AbuseFilter if blocking and degrouping was enabled. These features are not enabled on most Wikimedia Foundation wikis, but the account exists just in case. For example, when a user is blocked by the abuse filter, the blocking admin is that account. However, IMHO the user list looks better without redlinks, which is why I redirected those pages. Catalan (talk) 00:23, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

On this same topic, your edit to User:2morgant was not appropriate. Not only was the content there not what we'd think of as web hosting, but we do allow some leeway about what can be on user pages. --Auntof6 (talk) 15:18, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

COI?

What kind of conflict of interest do you think User:UOFOS has with his/her articles? In what way would they stand to benefit from the content of the articles they're creating? Only (talk) 20:37, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Meh, I wasn't really thinking. I'm tired right now and probably should be taking a nap. I just saw the username was the exact same as the articles they created as well as some similar (identical?) content on their userpage. To me, these three things together spell COI, but I didn't look closely enough before notifying. My bad. Catalan (talk) 20:38, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

SpongeBob SquarePants (season 9)

I see absolutely nothing that was vandalistic about the edits at SpongeBob SquarePants (season 9), therefore, I have rollbacked your edits as disruptive. Please only revert things that match our vandalism definition. Adding episode summaries to the table is clearly NOT vandalism. Only (talk) 20:46, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
