Bergerac is on the banks of the River Dordogne

Bergerac is a city in France. It is in the Dordogne departement, in Aquitaine. Just over 26.000 people lived there in 1999. This makes it the second biggest city of the departement, only Périgeux is bigger, with about 30.000 people living there.

Bergerac is known for its wines and its tobacco. Despite the similarities in naming there is no connection to Cyrano de Bergerac, a French writer from Paris
