Hurricane Gustav was one of 16 named storms, one of seven hurricanes, and one of five major hurricanes in the 2008 Atlantic hurricane season. Hurricane Gustav form on August 25, made landfall in three countries, Haiti, Cuba, and the United States, the storm died on September 4. Gustav caused about $6.61 Billion in damage, also 112 direct and 41 indirect deaths.

In the spring of 2009 the name Gustav was retired, it was replaced by Gonzalo in 2014.[1]
