Tom Cruise (born July 3, 1962) is an American actor. He has starred in many movies, including War of the Worlds and Jerry Maguire. As of 2012 Cruise is Hollywood's highest-paid actor.[1][2]

His first movie was Endless Love. His first leading role was in the movie Risky Business. He has been nominated for three Academy Awards and has won three Golden Globe Awards. These were for the same movies: Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Jerry Maguire (1996), Magnolia (1999).

He is a Scientologist.[3] He is also famous for jumping up on the couch on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

Cruise has an adopted daughter and adopted son with his second wife Nicole Kidman. He has a daughter Suri (born April 2006), by Katie Holmes. He and Holmes married in November 2006 and separated in 2012.[4]
