iPad Pro is a tablet computer designed, developed, and marketed by Apple Inc. Announced on September 9, 2015,[4] the iPad Pro was released on November 11, 2015.[5] The tablet features a 12.9-inch screen, larger than all previous iPad models.[6] Three configurations are available: Wi-Fi-only models with 32 or 128 GB of storage space, and a 128 GB model with Wi-Fi/cellular connectivity. The iPad Pro is the first iPad tablet to feature LPDDR4 RAM.[1]

History[change | change source]

The iPad Pro was announced during an Apple Special Event on September 9, 2015. It was released on November 11, 2015 with gold, silver, and space gray color choices. Prices ranging between US$799–1079 based on models.

Features[change | change source]

iPad Pro includes the A9X chip and the Apple M9 motion co-processor. A number of features are carried over from the iPad, such as Touch ID and the Retina Display. New features include a smart connector for a keyboard and four stereo speakers located in pairs on top and bottom of the device. Its screen is a 12.9" 2732-by-2048 retina display at 264 pixels per inch and features a variable refresh rate, a first for Apple. It is the first iPad to include 4 GB RAM.

Accessories[change | change source]

There are two accessories made specifically for iPad Pro[source?] an attachable keyboard and a stylus, Apple Pencil, both of which are sold separately.[7]

Smart Keyboard[change | change source]

Smart Keyboard docks with iPad Pro using the Smart Connector, a magnetic connection that provides data transfer and power. Smart Keyboard, which doubles as a kickstand, is comparable to that of the competing Microsoft Surface Pro.[8]

Apple Pencil[change | change source]

Apple Pencil is a stylus designed to work exclusively with the iPad Pro.[9][10] iPad Pro introduces a new display with increased responsiveness and precision over previous iPad displays with Apple Pencil support added.[11][12] During the keynote, Apple demonstrated drawing, managing publication layout, and document annotation.[13][14][15]

Known issues[change | change source]

The device shuts down randomly. Apple is investigating the issue.[16]
