There are several target audiences here, including children who may be confused by some of the technical wording on the English Wikipedia, adults with learning difficulties or disabilities, and people who are learning English. Than I see no reason that I should edit here whatsoever. Normal Wikipedia is fine for me, and I contribute to medical articles on real Wikipedia, a topic that does not appear to be covered here. Immunize (talk) 16:47, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

This is a "real Wikipedia" in the same sense that it is another project along with the English Wikipedia, the Spanish Wikipedia, and the Esperanto Wikipedia. Kansan (talk) 16:51, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Generally, such things would be covered at WP:Simple talk. This community of editors is small enough that that level of bureaucracy generally isn't as necessary as it might be there. Also, in keeping with the theme of simplicity, it is often felt that so many different subpages/instruction pages may confuse. This sentiment is not unknown on the English Wikipedia either: see en:WP:CREEP. This project certainly has its differences, and certainly isn't for everybody, and some of the pages are admittedly of far lower quality than on other Wikipedias but I enjoy editing here as an educator who believes in working to make knowledge accessible to all. Why? There are no benefits of simple English Wikipedia for the editor (or, as you probably call it here, the changer) over Regular english Wikipedia. I am also very surprised that there is no article on renal cell carcinoma (until I created it, and the article I created is still a stub) on this Wikipedia. 17:03, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

I view the lack of according articles not as something to keep me from editing, but to encourage me to fill in the gaps. My main specialty is American history, and I have created articles on subjects such as Japanese American internment and John Brown (abolitionist). There is not much I could add to these articles on the English Wikipedia; they are already in fine shape. There is plenty of work to do here, though. Kansan (talk) 17:06, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that is true, and I am often frustrated at how little there is to do on regular wikipedia, as most of what needs to be created there has already been created. Currently, I am a rollbacker and am very active in vandalism-fighting. Immunize (talk) 17:08, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

So far, it looks pretty good. It does seem a little on the complex side, which is understandable given that science/medical articles are hard to simplify without compromising the integrity of the article. For that reason, we often include interwiki links to Wiktionary or Simple English Wiktionary definitions of difficult words. Suggested article?

Do you think it would be worth creating a short article on Prognosis? I've been thinking about doing it myself, seeing as it is an important medical concept but not necessarily a familiar term to all users. Kansan (talk) 22:25, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Be careful...

If you are going to write articles on the medical topic, great! But keep just one thing in mind, the articles need to be referenced and Wikipedia is not a medical service. I don't understand what you mean by "Wikipedia is not a medical service". Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and encyclopedias include medical topics, indepth. Kansan (talk) 23:54, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

I'm not seeing how any of these articles a problem. They are about technical subjects, and require some level of technicalness to explain them. We've been working to provide introductory articles to these concepts that can easily be linked to. The wording of your original statement seemed a little bite-y, although I know you didn't mean it that way. I think it's great that we're getting medical articles written. That really didn't require shouting, Diego. Much less with an emoticon after it. Medical articles are indeed necessary (probably far more than my work on music) and important, and probably pretty easy to reference. Well, renal cell carcinoma is now referenced. So is Interleukin-2 and Metastatic melanoma also is. However, if Diego Grez keeps bothering me when I am referencing my articles, I may just leave this wiki and remain on my main account on The main English wikipedia. Well done, Immunize. :) I've seen you around at enWP, but I think it'd almost be a better use of your time here- we desperately need more content creators, but I don't know how much enWP needs more vandalfighters-- or whether it is possible for you to create much content there. My experience is that, given how big enWP has become, there is little an editor can do other than revert disruptive edits, as most content has already been created. Here, however, there is little medical content (or content in general). Immunize (talk) 22:52, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Immunize, and welcome to our little project. I have looked at some of the articles you created. I am not a doctor, so I cannot judge them from a medical perspective. From a "simple" wikipedia perspective, I think you should add Interwiki links (the linkt to at least one other language. The bots roaming will find and add the other languages. Also, given that your creations are usually short, a {{stub}} tag might be worth considering. Thank you for your welcome. Despite being a prolific contributor at the main english wikipedia, I am unaware of how to make interwiki links. The bots do typically add them in automatically, so I doubt it is a big issue. I always use the {{stub}} tag for stub articles. Best wishes. Immunize (talk) 20:41, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

The bots do not add them automatically if only one editor has edited the page. Since that happens most of the time, please add them. To add them, just copy them from the bottom of the en article, add the en link. Griffinofwales (talk) 20:45, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
