Rename Category:Jewish people

@Auntof6@Kk.urban My thought on this (I looked up some articles) calling Jewish people “jews” can be seen as anti-semantic. Specifically if you look at what Hitler did and said because he thought (not posting this to upset anyone) race-tuberculosis of the peoples and The “ultimate goal must definitely be the removal of the Jews altogether. If you pull up the reference, you will see the tags “antisemitism” and “racism.”

We need to be careful here, it would also be interesting what the exact wording in German was. Before 1933, the nazi party was one of several parties with similar ideas. If you say 'Jewish people' a religion is implied. If you say, for example 'Spanish people' or 'French people' there is no such implication Eptalon (talk) 14:59, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

@Eptalon Good to see you. So it is my thought. Say a black person calls another black person the N word. It is fine that way. If any other race calls them that (at least in my neck of the woods) I’ll see a gun pointed at me and poof there it. I think there is a finite line here we may not want to cross. It’s obvious Hitler and the Nazis hated Jewish people and homosexuality. Let’s jump to something more current. The on-set of COVID-19, a lot of people were attacking Asian people because they were told by Mr Spray Tan they brought it over and something needed to be done. So what happens, his followers attacked and killed numerous Asians, even if they looked like it but were actually Americans. They called them some choice names. Think back to WWII I believe it was where the names came up. I’m not implying anyone here is racist, just speaking from my long time on this planet and the whole picture. My reason was what Eptalon said (that people might assume "Jewish people" refers to the religion, not the ethnicity, and that even for religions, we use "Christians", "Muslims", "Hindus", and so forth, so "Jews" would be similar. (It would also match enwiki and our other categories like "American Jews"). I didn't really know that "Jews" could be considered offensive - I thought that some people avoided it because they had a misconception that it's offensive - but in that case it might be better not to change it and only use a category redirect. The reason is that these won't include all administrators of these projects, so it could be misleading. ISIS flag on user page

Hello SimpWiki administrators,

I'm writing to you after seeing a complaint made on the English Wikipedia about a user page on the Simple English Wikipedia. Obviously we cannot handle that sort of complaint there (where I am an administrator), but I think it warrants some consideration here, and so I'm cross-posting this.

The user page, User:MCGAMER YOUTUBE, has an ISIS flag on it, and it was tagged for deletion by Larrymhardy. After MCGAMER YOUTUBE's user page was tagged for deletion, the user initially proceeded to place a tag on their user page disclaiming any support for ISIS (claiming that they only put the flag there for aesthetic reasons), but then removed the tag and the deletion template from their own user page.

According to Wikipedia:User page, There is broad agreement that you may not include in your user space material that is likely to bring the project into disrepute, or which is likely to give widespread offense. I would posit that the inclusion of the ISIS flag on an editor's user page in the manner that MCGAMER YOUTUBE has chosen to do is the sort of thing that would be likely to bring the project into disrepute, or at least to give widespread offense.

In light of this, I am asking that administrators look into this and take appropriate action.

I didn't see anything glaring missing from the page. There are some fake categories or etc but nothing gutting the policy. If you feel so inclined, you can fix build out the redlinks.

Yes, that's correct as of now. Although the flag has been changed, I have noticed the editing pattern of User:MCGAMER YOUTUBE, which I feel is promoting banned organizations or related groups. @SurferSquall: It is a very fine line that I'll allow, on my own judgement. Other admins may well override that judgement. However, when you move the article into mainspace, you are assuming responsibility for the content of that article. Page creation edit notice

A user has just brought a problem to my attention on my talk page. The edit notice for creating a user page is almost the same as that for creating an article. It includes the line "If you want to make test changes, please use the sandbox." This is evidently confusing because it can lead a new user to think they're making test changes in the wrong place.

SEO articles

Hi, I am not at home in this Wikipedia, so I am not quite sure if this is the right place to bring this to your attention.

There is an article that has been added to the German, the Spanish, and the Simple English Wikipedia today, about a singer named Praise Ukachukwu Mba. The Spanish Wikipedia has already put a big tag "self-promotion" over the article, and I assume the German one will follow.

Now on the Simple English Wikipedia, the user has also added an article about this guy's company named Brandskon which was founded just now in March of 2024. I don't see the slightest chance that this company is notable.

What I don't like about the whole thing is this: Why don't they even try to put these articles in the English Wikipedia? Because they know they wouldn't stand a chance. But having an article on Simple English Wikipedia I am sure is just as good for SEO.

@PotsdamLamb: It can make it harder for the admins to do their job when people keep pointing out the things they want done right now! There's such a thing as a flow of work, and if that gets interrupted things can get dropped.

Earlier today you thanked me for closing a bunch of RFDs. The reason I could do that is that 1) I had a chunk of time before I had to be in a meeting and 2) no one interrupted me to ask me to do something else just because they saw that I was online. If I had gotten interrupted, I wouldn't have been able to close as many as I did at the time.

Issues with User:BigKrow

The user is creating a lot of short (and I mean short) articles and not creating them correctly. Instead of references they just add an external link. This is one such article out of many. Some I have moved to their userspace (and notified them of such) that I moved them so they can work on the articles and complete them to more than a one - two sentence article. I have also posted on their talk page about the issue. They have also received messages from other users on their talk page. This is not the first time this has happened. We have also had a lot of edit conflicts as they follow me around and when I am working on an article, they edit it right after my first edit and I have asked them to wait about 5 minutes to see if I make any other changes as I am tidying up articles and making sure they are formatted correctly, have the appropriate headings, everything I typically do. I will post a notice on the users talk page about this discussion. I am not quite sure what I can do, but perhaps admins can do something or say something that will work and get the editor back on track. Talk:1999 Sydney hailstorm#PotsdamLamb telling me I "stop adding things to my drafts vybereyes helping me not you..." - Showing ownership and I’ve never touched the article which is in the main space. It was an article I moved to their user space due to the issues they are having with the creation of the articles (of which I moved the original to their user space so they could work on it) but they made a new article instead of moving it. Plus the article is just very basic (as I listed above 1999 Sydney hailstorm. They have received numerous warnings and conversations about the issues since they joined. I’m beginning to feel that they don’t quite yet understand how to create articles and the layout making them perhaps incompatible with our project. It is possible another admin may have left it to do later because there was other work that was of a higher priority. User:Futurolog21 canvassing

This user created an article that was put up for RfD and was successful. During the RfD, I noticed a couple of things that were off. Upon investigation, I found this user was canvassing to get people from their home wiki to come onto SEWP and vote to keep an article that had no notability. I know canvassing is not tolerated on ENWP. The RfD are is now closed as deleted. I would expect the article to be recreated based on how passionate this editor was about keeping it and even quoting relative parts of policy (but not quoting ones against what they were doing. The RfD is at Wikipedia:Requests_for_deletion/Requests/2024/Lady_Slim for an admin to look and see the log I posted.. Issues with DIVINE

Besides a big edit notice that says they are not allowed to post on my talk page, they ignored it and decided to do so anyway. It clearly states: "NOTICE: BigKrow and Divine are prohibited from posting anything on my talk page. Any violations will be reported to WP:AN." in bold letters clear across any typing area of my page. I am holding to it. Admins, please enforce this. This is due to their inability to once again follow instructions on SEWP and requests from an editor who they have had unhealthy conversations with and I distancing myself from both of these editors based on their aspirations and slander towards me. See my edit notice here. It was last updated on April 14, 2024, but both added on April 13, 2024 and while typing this out, the editor added yet another post to my talk page. Diff one then they edited it so here is diff two. Amazing how the changed the words around to better suit them going from You are not supposed to blame another editor who wasn't even informed by them to You are not supposed to blame another editor with wrong information. @PotsdamLamb accused me with a false comment of calling another admin an ass on enwiki while my request was about rollback, and they clearly mentioned many things there which i have already addressed with. Just a few days back, they called Lee Velnski " you might be an admin on enwiki and warned not to act as an admin here" while lee was doing their own work. This user is clearly not having a healthy conversation with another editor and always involves in conflict with bad faith editing and WP:Biting another editor. While I was trying to communicate regarding their concern on their talk page, they bring me here, which is not that concerning, as I can see it's not the first time they are doing this. But I just want to ignore this, and their comment on the rollback request was blaming, hatred, false accusations with falsifying evidence. DIVINE 04:56, 20 April 2024 (UTC)

• This user has been absent from this wiki for two years. Upon coming back to SEWP, the editor immediately took me to WP:RFCU (See Wikipedia:Requests_for_checkuser#PotsdamLamb) for absolutely no reason or even researching anything. - Is this not true for some reason? I would like to see the evidence where this did not happen days after you returned without YOU or I even communicating?
• Slew of issues on ENWP, involving legal threats (for which they were blocked on April 6, 2024 ENWP block log)

• 05:17, April 6, 2024 Ivanvector talk contribs changed block settings for DIVINE talk contribs with an expiration time of indefinite (account creation blocked) (legal threats and disruptive editing. Restoring talk access to address block appeal.)
• 11:01, April 3, 2024 Ivanvector talk contribs changed block settings for DIVINE talk contribs with an expiration time of indefinite (account creation blocked, email disabled, cannot edit own talk page) (Not compromised, but now blocked for legal threats, and disruptive editing in general. Talk page acces revoked for threatening to post personal information about other users.) Tag: Twinkle
• 10:55, April 3, 2024 Rosguill talk contribs blocked DIVINE talk contribs with an expiration time of indefinite (account creation blocked) (Either a compromised account, or a longterm self-promoter with possible sockpuppetry and possibly UPE thrown in as well, per Special:Diff/1217072039 and the revision histories of Prakash Neupane. Either way, indef block is appropriate.) Tag: Twinkle (Note: I missed this on my intial review.)

• Yet you are denying this by your response of "Thirdly, legal threats issues arose from doxing and have already been resolved. I am following WP:STANDARD offer and haven't violated WP:SOCK policy." So if resolved, why are you still blocked? If you took the standard offer, why are you still blocked?

• "In addition to the CU request placement, you could have pointed it out to me on my talk page or fixed it instead of complaining." - I was not complaining, I told you it had already been way resolved and my original unblock was declined LAST year due to it and others have brought me up for it and they ended up being globally locked for evading their block. Then on top of this, another editor started making aspirations about me, who has had a lot of issues on this Wiki and after I and others have tried to help them for a very long time, they decide to continue to do what they were asked not to do and to continue to go against policy. So that was the 2nd rollback, but yet you turn around then and state "Secondly, your CU request was valid, and anyone can request CU. You were about to commit 3RR violations while removing that notice from the CU page." - One you cannot assume what I was about to do. I was actually having an IRC conversation with admins about it to get it addressed quickly before it got out of hand.
• You state "Fighting against vandalism or patrolling new pages always involves automated edits while putting warning templates on users' talk pages with the help of Twinkle." and "Lastly, about contributing, I have created more than 61 pages and 14 pages recently without copying anything, but writing by myself. My motto is to create at least one page per day here on SWEP while being free."

• Since you have been back, you have created 14 pages of which a few are stubs. Plus two more which were deleted as non-notable. I personally asked for QD on one of them. I am not sure where you get 61 pages from unless you are counting user pages when you placed original templates on it. I see 52 talk pages created and 6 categories. So let's not inflate your numbers to try to look good.

• You state Also, I don't understand why you bring enwiki issues here, while this is a completely different WikiProject, and I haven't done anything wrong here while volunteering with a positive attitude and positive manners - Not all of your interactions have been positive, and due to the amount of posts you make, I can not search through every single one of. I can think of a few of hand where you were not, which also includes the comments you made when you requested my CU. Any issues you have on one wiki affects all wikis. You, seeming to know all about how things operate, should know this. That is why there is the one-strike rule.
• To address your comment about you didn't call an admin an "ass" I will just post that link here too for others to evaluate (along with your demanding nature, which is taken into account by the admin saying they are getting tired of it) w:/User_talk:Primefac/Archive_40#Hi.

Now, to address what you just stated above about me:

1. Lee and I have since worked it out as adults and explained his reasoning, which is valid and I have no problem with that. 99% of the time, we get along just fine. Disputes are bound to happen, it is how we deal with it that matters.
2. Yes, some editors and I will not get along. The funny part is, they end up going to CU for some reason and they are found out to be sock puppets. There are actually two other users I did not get along with at one time, they are now resolved and we work great together. It is called talking things out and not everything will be on wiki. As we have IRC, discord and email.

That is all I have to say. The proof is in the pudding as evidence (once again) is shown (since obviously at [[5]] I did not provide evidence, then there you go. Page protection

Please protect the following pages as an editor keeps removing the redirects (one was already protected) and now they are doing the others which all go under one company.

• Entertainment One Films needs to be redirected to Entertainment One
• Entertainment One Canada needs to be redirected to Entertainment One

Please redirect the pages as stated (also follows ENWP as these small subsidiaries all fall under Entertainment One) and protect the redirect pages from being edited. I have attempted on multiple occasions to talk to the editor on their talk page but they have never once responded and instead just keep removing the redirects without any valid reason on the edit summary or conversation.
