2 States is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film based on Chetan Bhagat's 2009 novel 2 States: The Story of My Marriage and written by Abhishek Varman and Bhagat.[3] Directed by Varman in his directorial debut, the film was jointly produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles and Ronit Roy, Revathi, Amrita Singh and Shiv Kumar Subramaniam in supporting roles.[1]

It was released on 18 April 2014 to positive reviews and became a huge critical and commercial success. Everyone loved the music, cast performances, story and direction, and as a result, the film earned 1.75 billion (US$23 million) in worldwide markets. [4][5]
