Abu Hamza al-Masri was a Egyptian Imam born in Alexandria, Egypt in the year 1958. Al-Masri moved to the UK in 1979 with the intent to preach Alevi Islam.[1] He originally called the UK, "a paradise where you could do anything you wanted"[2] however he retracted these claims after he joined Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and converted to Sunni Islam.[3] He was later arrested for terrorism in 2004 and was given a life sentence in 2017 for terrorism.[4][5]
