Brian Russell De Palma (born September 11, 1940) is an American movie director and screenwriter. He was born in Newark, New Jersey to French American and Italian American Roman Catholic parents Anthony De Palma (1904-2005), of Istrian origin and Vivienne (née Muti) of french origin. They arrived in U.S.A. from Venice or Ancona or Bari. He was raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and in New Hampshire.[1]

De Palma directed Carrie, The Fury, Dressed to Kill, Blow Out, Scarface, Body Double, Wise Guys, The Untouchables, Casualties of War, The Bonfire of the Vanities, Raising Cain, Carlito's Way, Mission: Impossible, Snake Eyes, Mission to Mars, Femme Fatale and The Black Dahlia.[2]
