Are foods objects?[change source]

I suppose food could be a concept... as nearly anything could be a concept, but since some things can be both an physical object and a concept, it dosn't matter.

What matters is can food often be physical object?... Yes.

What matters is could users look under Category:Objects and want to find things like Category:Foods?... Yes.

And electricity, gravitation, electromagnetic radiation...? But really, a classification must be based on purpose and be comprehensible to our particular audience. We've been through all this before, in the 18th century! (when 'philosophy' meant any branch of knowledge). A classification is a practical tool. Then a lot of the things in the category need to be recategorized because they're not objects and/or not even foods, including the food stub category, adulterant, city farming, convenience food (clearly not a specific object), dough, and others (I'm not going to list them all). --Auntof6 (talk) 18:02, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your view is (or seems to be) that every page and sub-category should conform to every single parent category it is in, all the way up the category tree.

It is unrealistic and unnecessary to interpret the category tree as such a strict logical system. The category tree is just a way to help people find articles that they want to find, and the category tree should be organized is whatever way will make that as easy as possible.

Category:Foods is in Category:Objects because foods are objects. Category:American fast food restaurants‎ is in Category:Fast food because the restaurants‎ serve fast food, even thou the restaurants‎ themselves are not food.
