Glencoe is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is the county seat of McLeod County.[6] 5,744 people lived here at the 2020 census.[4]

Glencoe was planned out in 1855. It is named after Glen Coe in Scotland.[7] A post office has been in operation at Glencoe since 1856.[8] Glencoe was incorporated as a city in 1909.[7]

The United States Census Bureau says that the city has an area of 3.17 square miles (8.21 km2). Of that 3.17 square miles (8.20 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.02 km2) is water.[2] U.S. Highway 212 and Minnesota State Highway 22 are two main routes in Glencoe. It is 87 km (54 mi) east of Minneapolis.

2020 census[change | change source]

The 2020 census says that there were 5,744 people, 2,345 households, and 1,481 families living in Glencoe.

The median age was 39.1 years. Of the people, 82.6% were White, 0.5% were Black, 0.4% were Native American, 0.8% were Asian, 5.8% were from some other races, and 9.9% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 17.1% of the people.[9][10]
