Jochebed (JOCK-oh-bed) was the mother of Moses; an Israelite prophet, according to biblical legend. Jochebed lived in Egypt and had three children; Moses, Miriam, and Aaron. When the pharaoh ordered all Hebrew newborn children to die, Jochebed floated Moses down the river to save his life.
