Joseph Adolph Sonnabend (6 January 1933 – 24 January 2021) was a South African physician, scientist and HIV/AIDS researcher. He was known for his research and awareness campaign about safe sex to prevent STDs and AIDS.[1]

Sonnabend had a heart attack on 3 January 2021. He died on 24 January at a London hospital at the age of 88.[2]
