The Federal Ministry of Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (German: Bundesministerium für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend) (BMFSFJ) is a ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany. Although the headquarters are in Berlin, more people work in the Bonn office.

Different ministries, for example Labour and Social Affairs, can affect families, the elderly, women and youth. The BMFSFJ watches what these ministries do and provides specialised help.

1953

Created as the Federal Ministry for Family Questions (German: Bundesministerium für Familienfragen).

1957

renamed the Federal Ministry Family and Youth Questions (German: Bundesministerium für Familien- und Jugendfragen)

1963

renamed Federal Ministry of Family and Youth (German: Bundesministerium für Familie und Jugend)

1969

took over the Federal Ministry of Health (German: Bundesministeriums für Gesundheit) to become the Federal Ministry of Youth, Family and Health (German: Bundesministerium für Jugend, Familie und Gesundheit)

1986

renamed the Federal Ministry of Youth, Family, Women and Health, (German: Bundesministerium für Jugend, Familie, Frauen und Gesundheit).

1991
