Oriente is one of the oldest provinces of Cuba. Is located in the Eastern region of the island and has a population of over 1 million inhabitants.

It is home to many cuban talents such as Pablo Milanés and also where leader Fidel Castro was born. Is the most diverse province of the country and other than Cuban Spanish the Haitian Creole language is also spoken there.

Oriente Airport is located in the Province and is the second most important airport of the island. It recieves around 2 through 3 million passengers yearly.

Baseball in the Province[change | change source]

Avispas de Oriente is the province's baseball team and is considered one of the best baseball teams in the country along with the Industriales de La Habana (the capital's team).

Musical traditions[change | change source]

The province is rich in music tradition. Cuban bolero music genre was born in Santiago de Cuba as well as the Cuban "Son" and the Cuban Nueva Trova.
