Perro de Presa Canario
The Perro de Presa Canario is a large Mastiff-type dog breed from the Canary Islands.[1] It was bred for working livestock. Also to run off or kill other dogs.[1] They are often on the list of outlawed dogs in places that ban dangerous breeds.[1] They are a working breed. If trained and socialized early they can make a good family pet. They make excellent guard dogs.
The name of the breed is Spanish and means "Canarian catch dog". The name is often shortened to "Presa Canario" or simply "Presa".[2] The breed is sometimes also called Dogo Canario or Canary Dog.[2]
Height and weight

- Males: 61–66 cm (24–26 in)
- Females: 57–62 cm (22–24 in)
Weight:
- Males: 50–65 kg (110–143 lb) range 1
- Males: 45–57 kg (100–125 lb) FCI standard
- Females: 40–50 kg (90–110 lb) FCI standard
Some sources state that males can range up to 160 pounds (73 kg) high end while other sources state that females can be 36-45 kg at the least and 38-50 kg at the most.
