Rinat Akhmetov is a Ukrainian businessman from Donetsk. He is Ukraine’s richest man who fully owns DTEK through his System Capital Management company. In 2023 his total worth was about US$5.7 billion.[1]

He gave his television channels, which had routinely backed opposition politicians, to the government in 2022. He has given $158 million privately to the war effort. He says Vladimir Putin is a “war criminal”. He is suing Russia in the European Court of Human Rights for damage to his business empire.[2]
