Locked?[change source]

anyone else think this ought to be locked for right now? or semi blocked idk. --Theworld4ever (talk) 15:38, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would be against protection right now, as only two IP's have been vandalizing the page recently. A block can stop them. If it were more users, then protection may be needed.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 15:42, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ok. --Theworld4ever (talk) 15:42, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are other things than rap[change source]

If we have a gallery of pictures, it should represent the whole diversity of African Americans: Living and dead, famous for politics, sports, music, economy, science, and so on. It should not follow the line of the traditional and racist cliche or prejudice that African Americans are good at sports and music and white people are good at everything else. --Rsk6400 (talk) 09:20, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Rsk6400: If you want to remove or add a few pictures to the gallery at the bottom, go ahead. Naddruf (talk) 16:00, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I came here to say something very similar. As I read this pages "info" I found myself wondering was this written by someone other than a Black American? It felt just a bit overly cliched espousing concepts that were just this side of racist, if not showcasing the bigotry of low expectations! People like Langston Hughes Mea Jameson Ronald McNair Madam Walker hell even a Condoleezza Rice and Dr Ben Carson should be better examples of African-American achievement then Beyonce 50 cents etc. Black people have contributed to American cuisine in ways other than just soul food! Black people eat more than just soul food. A word which is a colloquial term that can take in many different things that can change between different regions and some African-American communities what would not ever be considered soul food in others... and to boil down the death and depression that is prevalent in African-American communities to just racism and covid is so woefully ignorant uninformed and in my opinion quite detrimental to anyone that will believe it instead of looking into the facts. I'm glad you at least allowed the rates for heart disease in the African-American Community to be shown but without the caveat that is higher among women than it is men and our community. There's so much that could have been added that wasn't. So for a wholly incomplete view to be presented by God only knows who to be protected material is... well I can't even think of a word that quite fits. Gallery Section[change source]

Hello @Djsasso can you explain why should we remove the entire gallery? those people are notable and related to the article. Thank you 🌸 Sakura emad 💖 (talk) 11:08, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Because galleries are discouraged from use, they shouldn't really be on any article. This one is specifically problematic because it causes people to add people based on POV editing. Just because someone is back doesn't mean they are notable because they are black and if that is the case then they are only tangentially related to the subject. The gallery would be removed from any article that was just a gallery of people. Some of the pictures could probably be used in other parts of the article, but gallery sections themselves should not be used. -Djsasso (talk) 11:13, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear en:WP:GALLERY indicates that they should only be used if each picture in the gallery can expand the information on the topic. A gallery of people that happen to be black doesn't do that. -Djsasso (talk) 11:18, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, we have Wikimedia Commons if you want galleries related to the topics.-BRP ever 11:17, 7 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
