A first[change source]
This is a first for me, yey! I have never before started a biography page for a basketball player, or any sportsperson, I think?
I wrote this when I discovered that Siakam had no article here yet, even though he currently plays for the Toronto Raptors, which is the topic of discusion on every Canadian news outlet, at the moment. The raptors have a good chance of becoming the NBA champions this year (did I get my terminology right?). My impression (from reading comments by others) was that sports and sportspeople are extremely well covered on Wikipedia. Anywayway, I have now determined this is definitely not the case on Simple. All the basketball players, at least those of the Raptors, are out-of-date, if they exist at all.
OK time to quit, this is too long and rambling...Ottawahitech (talk) 16:03, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
- I think the correct term is "NBA Finals" :-) Hiàn (talk) 16:18, 8 June 2019 (UTC)
Division 1[change source]
I cannot find an article on Division 1 (div 1) here. I see it a lot in references so wonder if it is mentioned somewhere on Simple. Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 15:00, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- See the list of articles in the English Wikipedia for Division 1. Which is relevant for you? Start with that article and check in Wikidata (the bottom content in the left-hand column) whether there's a link to an article in Simple English. -- Deborahjay (talk) 16:31, 22 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Deborahjay:Thanks for the pointers. I tried it this way but could not find a link to Simple. Then I decided to try Google instead: "what division 1 is in basketball", and got a pretty elaborate exlanation of the 3 divisions in NCAA at:https://ausahoops.com/what-are-the-different-levels-of-college-basketball/. Made me decide I am not that interested in this spectator sport to try and decypher it all :-) Ottawahitech (talk) 22:05, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
