Rewording[change source]
I think the wording for the year articles ought to be different on Simple wikipedia than the regular site. For instance, perhaps info about a particular year ought to not be mentioned, other than leap year, common year, whether the year is ongoing, first or last year of a time period (decade, century, millennium). But maybe mention the year's position in the anno domini, millennium, or century.
Thus, 2021 can read as follows:
2021 (MMXXI) is a common year starting on Friday in the Gregorian calendar and is the current year. It is 21st year of the 3rd millennium and 21st century.
2020:
2020 (MMXX) was a leap year starting on Wednesday in the Gregorian calendar. It was the first year of the 2020s decade.
For century leap years:
2000 (MM) was a century leap year that started on a Saturday, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar. It was the last year of the 2nd millennium and 20th century. It was the first year of the 2000s decade.
- Why do you feel we should leave out important information just to be different than en.wiki? Simple English Wikipedia doesn't mean we have less information. -Djsasso (talk) 17:38, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
